Oh, the irony

It was a rant of a comment–on economic matters–made by one of my Facebook friends that prompted me to document this. Even though I don’t particularly value the opinion of this particular individual, especially when it comes to economics, the entire rant is well worth posting because it is a beautiful depiction of the progressive mindset that we have to deal with these days. I’ll post that up some other time.
Right now I just had to document this little hilarious bit of irony before it ends up at the bottom of the Facebook abyss.
Anyway, we were talking about economic predictions for the coming years. The conversation really amounted to me making predictions and explaining my position and my friend responding with "that’s crazy" and foregoing the opportunity to explain himself in economic terms.
So the conversation shifted to Peter Schiff, who of course is considered a crackpot by the mainstream–which makes him all the more valuable to listen to, in my opinion. In any case, I pointed my friend to the Peter Schiff was right video where CNBC commentators and market analysts literally laugh at the man as he makes predictions that would come true within a year or two.
Instead of commending Peter Schiff for being correct, my friend chose to discredit Schiff’s opposition in those clips. He said, "The people in your Schiff video are classic blowhards."
So it wasn’t Schiff who was right, it was these idiots who were wrong. Okay, I can deal with stubbornness from someone who has no understanding of the issues, but still wants to hold firm to his preconceptions. Not really my problem, I think the video speaks for itself.
What he admitted next, though, was hilarious:
"Before, and of course since, he has made many fatally flawed predictions, but his few minutes of YouTube fame will always triumph."
Remember, he called these people who disregard Schiff’s position as "classic blowhards." In the same breath he implicates himself equally as thick-skulled as he engages in the same baseless disregard for Schiff’s on point analysis.
The blowhards will continue to blow hard all the while laughing at the previous group of blowhards. It just proves that anything can happen when you stick firm to a position in a debate about a topic that you simply don’t understand.
Not expecting my blowhard friend to appreciate the irony, I ended the conversation.
I could have told him that he’s late to the discussion and should get in line behind all the other people who have been calling the vindicated Schiff an idiot for the last ten years, but I would rather just document the hilarity than try and pull teeth from someone who, frankly, deserves what America is about to give him…
